Filipe Mello Rose studied social sciences and urban governance at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris) and holds his doctorate at the Chair of Urban and Regional Economics at HafenCity University. He completed his master’s degree with a four-month research project in Recife, Brazil.

From 2018 to 2022, Filipe Mello Rose was employed at the Chair of Urban and Regional Economics at HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) in the DFG-funded research project “Smart Cities: The Standardisation of Cities?” From 2021, he was also part of the Chair of Digital City Science and conducted two projects on digital planning technologies.

Since the beginning of 2023 he has been part of the research group Knowledge Architecture at the TU Dresden. There he is significantly involved in the smart city strategy development and the scientific support of smart city projects in Dresden and Ilmenau. Since the beginning of 2024 he has also been working at the nexus Institute.

Filipe is a German and Brazilian citizen. His research interests are at the interface of questions about alternatives in platform economics, participatory policy development and the co-creative development of smart cities.
