Antonios Hazim studied computer science and political science at the Free University of Berlin and is currently completing his master’s degree in Human Factors at the Technical University of Berlin. Based on an interest in the critical examination of technology development and a high appreciation for liberal-democratic self-determination (based on his background as an immigrant from Syria in 2016), his work focuses on human-centred and value-conscious technology development.
In addition to his professional activities at nexus, he is involved in Hiwarat e.V. in the areas of political education and peace & conflict. He also develops several Android open source apps as part of the Neo Collective.
His start at the institute was the KIDD project (Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Diversity), in which he was able to critically analyse the development of AI systems over a period of three years. Since July 2024, he has been working on the development of the Institute’s local AI system. At the institute, he is at home in the area of networks and society.
