Climate change and its consequences represent an ever-increasing global challenge that requires local action. The Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature of the State of Schleswig-Holstein is laying the foundations for a sustainable and climate protection-focussed future for the state by convening the Schleswig-Holstein Citizens’ Climate Forum. By involving the citizens of Schleswig-Holstein, a decisive step is being taken towards a holistic approach to climate protection. A draft of the Climate Action Programme (CAP) 2030 will be drawn up by January 2024 on the basis of action plans from the ministries responsible for the emissions sectors. The Citizens’ Climate Forum will discuss these measures of the climate protection programme in spring 2024 in order to ultimately formulate recommendations to the state government for a realistic and successful climate protection policy. The Citizens’ Climate Forum’s recommendations will be incorporated into the development of the final CAP 2030 by autumn 2024.

The nexus Institute was commissioned to design and organise the Climate Citizens’ Forum Schleswig-Holstein, which will take place from May to June 2024.
