Age is a key cross-cutting issue that brings together social, legal, and health-related questions. In order to adequately address these issues for the steadily growing group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer older adults, specific life experiences and needs must be taken into account. At the same time, the topic of older age calls for greater visibility within the LGBTIQ* community.

The symposium aims to provide a space to bring together the expertise of diverse individuals, make it visible, and thereby lay the groundwork for further collaboration.

The objectives are:

  • To build bridges between LGBTIQ* work and senior* work, strengthen existing networks, and initiate new collaborations
  • To create a shared knowledge base, promote multiplier approaches, and generate synergies between the participating sectors

The symposium will take place on June 4, 2026, in Dresden and is aimed at professionals working with older adults, in the LGBTQI* community, and in social services, healthcare, and nursing.

In addition to expert presentations and a panel discussion in the morning, the interactive afternoon program offers an opportunity to explore various topics in greater depth, exchange practical experiences through participatory methods, collaborate on ideas and solutions, and generate new ideas.
