Bike and Talk

Would you like to meet new people from other organisations at the EUREF Campus and you enjoy cycling? Then we have good news for you! Once a month, the nexus institute, based in the Green Garage on the Campus, in cooperation with BerlinOnBike, hosts a Bike & Talk event.

The concept is simple: bring your own bike or use a shared one and meet us in front of the Gasometer entrance. After a short introduction, you’ll be paired with another person who also works or studies at the campus. Riding together in pairs as part of a larger group, we’ll cycle to an interesting spot in Berlin, where you’ll hear a short story lasting about ten minutes. For the return trip, you’ll be paired with a new partner and cycle back to the campus.

The next Bike and Talk takes place at: 27th of March 2026 from 13:00 – 14:00

Meeting Point: Bike and Talk

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. Please register in advance so we can plan according to the group size.

Yes. The maximum number is 24 participants. This allows us to manage the group safely and, where possible, pass traffic lights together as one group.

Please cancel your ticket via the eveeno website. This helps us plan accurately and allows others to take your place.

If bad weather is expected, you will receive a cancellation email one hour before the event. In case of light or drizzly rain, the event will still take place. Please bring a waterproof jacket.

Yes, you need to bring your own bike or use a shared/rental bike.
Any bike that can comfortably ride at around 15 km/h is suitable. Gears are not required. There are also DB rental bikes available on campus.

We will ride at approximately 15 km/h, depending on the route, traffic conditions, and group dynamics.

No. Participation is at your own risk, similar to a normal ride with friends. Wearing a helmet is optional and not mandatory.

Cycling side by side is legal in Berlin. We mainly use bike-friendly routes with low car traffic. If a section of the route requires riding single file, the guide will inform the group.

The event is primarily designed for people working or studying at the EUREF Campus to connect with each other. However, participation is open to everyone.

The main language is English. Instructions and the short story at the destination will be in English. If you and your cycling partner share another language (e.g. German, French, Spanish), you are welcome to speak whichever language you prefer.

We start at the entrance of the Gasometer at 13:00h and aim to be back one hour later at 14:00h.

Excluding the explanations, we will cycle for about 40 minutes covering a distance of a bit less than 10 km.

In general, yes. However, to participate we require that you have some basic experience with cycling and also are aware of the common traffic rules.

You do not need to bring anything except a bike. However, we recommend bringing a small drink and a light snack, which you can enjoy during the short 10-minute break. Depending on the weather, please also bring an umbrella, sunglasses, and/or sunscreen.

Yes, there is a ride leader who will provide you detailed instructions and who you have to follow during the tour. The ride leader will also provide you information on the route and safety issues.

In the event of a minor technical issue with your bike that can be easily fixed or adjusted, the group will stop and we will attempt to resolve the issue quickly together. If the problem is more serious—such as a flat tire or a broken chain—the group will continue the tour, and you will be asked to make your own way back. We will never be more than a few kilometers from campus, so returning on foot is also an option.

No, it is not possible to join later or leave early. We will start at 13:00 exactly, and start riding the bikes about 5 minutes later. Please be there 5 minutes too early than too late. In case you are late, there is no need of contacting the organisation.

The Bike and Rides are free for everyone!

Yes, photos may be taken during the event by a colleague from nexus. These photos may be used on the nexus or EUREF Campus websites and in their newsletters. If you do not wish to appear in any photos, please inform the photographer in advance so that you can be excluded from the images. A brief reminder that photos will be taken will also be given at the beginning of the tour.
