The development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in recent years has resulted in radical changes in our lives. t is therefore critical that ICT innovations address societal expectations, needs, and values not only reactively but also proactively. This can be achieved through constructive and critical engagement with the social sciences and humanities, and through the implementation of responsible research and innovation activities (user engagement, gender equality, ethical issues, education and open access).
The HubIT project aims to establish a hub that will contribute to initiating and improving constructive and co-creative interactions between the social sciences and humanities, responsible research and innovation, and ICT fields. This can be accomplished through the following activities:
- Development of a common vision for inclusive ICT research and innovation
- Development of an extensive community, with the integration of various target groups and the utilization of their diverse capacities
- Implementation of real cooperation between ICT developers and social science and humanities researchers leading to inclusive and responsible innovations.
The project is funded within the framework of the EU research program Horizon 2020. nexus is in charge of work package 4: “Practical collaboration and experimental activities”.
