Due to rapidly advancing technical innovations, drastic changes are occurring in information security. These have an impact on the economy, administration, science and society. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is a particularly challenged authority on these issues. nexus was commissioned by the BSI together with the organisation Digitale Gesellschaft e. V. to identify challenges in the area of information security in a participatory manner and with relevant stakeholders from all areas of society. A special focus is on civil society. The project team will organise workshops, conduct a representative survey and conduct and evaluate semi-structured interviews with relevant stakeholders.
The findings will be discussed internally with the BSI and further developed into a “Charter for a Secure Information Society”. This charter is to receive broad societal support and have a lasting effect. In the final publication, the project team will present concrete recommendations for action for the long-term design of the policy area in the form of a policy memo. This will give the BSI the opportunity to support and implement demands that have broad social acceptance.
