Raphael Schlattmann studied physics and history of science at the Free University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin, specialising in gravitational physics. He worked in research projects on the history of the Physikalisch-Technische Reichsanstalt in the Third Reich and on the history of science of gravitational research in the GDR in the context of the Cold War and is doing his doctorate on this topic at the Institute of History and Philosophy of Science, Technology, and Literature at TU Berlin. His methodological focus lies in the field of digital humanities and here in particular in approaches to historical network research and computer-based methods for investigating the development of (collective) knowledge systems. In addition to his work at nexus, he works on these topics for the ModelSEN project at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science.

He has been employed at the nexus Institute in the research group networks and society since 2022.
