Nele Buchholz studied Environmental Sciences and Political Science at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg in her Bachelor’s degree with a focus on social ecology, gender, diversity and sustainability. Alongside her studies, she worked as a student assistant at the Institute for Sustainability Governance.
She then completed a social science Master’s degree in Human Ecology at Lund University, in which she explored power-critical, interdisciplinary perspectives and analytical tools to communicate about problems of sustainability. She wrote her Master’s thesis on the identity and landscape perception of coal workers in the energy transition process in Lusatia (Saxonia). She also studied Leadership for Sustainability in an one-year Master’s programme at Malmö University. In this programme, she explored postcolonial and feminist perspectives on leadership, organisational and management theories. She completed this master’s degree with a thesis on lived experience leadership in third sector organisations.
She gained practical experience in project organisation during the organisation of the Calluna Festival for Sustainable Development, as well as during an internship at the Youth Environmental Network Lower Saxony (JANUN).
Nele Buchholz started as a student assistant at the nexus Institute in December 2021 and is working as a project assistant since she graduated in February 2022.
