The Müggelsee in Berlin Köpenick is a popular place for local recreation and leisure. At the same time, it is a valuable natural area that is worthy of protection as a habitat for numerous wild animals and plants. Large parts of the Müggelsee are designated as conservation areas or nature reserves.
On behalf of Senatsverwaltung für Umwelt, Verkehr und Klimaschutz, nexus is monitoring the usage of Großer Müggelsee. The surveys are composed of the quantitative recordings of usage behaviour, including rule violations, as well as measurements of the sound level at several measuring points in time and at different locations along the Großer Müggelsee.
The aim of the monitoring is to quantify selected activities on the lake or near the shore. It also aims to systematically quantify the current state of individual aspects of use-behaviour and, if applicable, rule violations (e.g. in the context of the current Ordinance on the Protection of the Landscape and the Nature Reserve at Großer Müggelsee).
