Vanessa Kügler (M.Sc.) studied urban and regional planning in the bachelor’s program at HafenCity University Hamburg and in the interdisciplinary master’s program (architecture – urban planning – landscape planning) at the University of Kassel and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
During her studies she worked as a student assistant at the Hamburg Office for the Protection of Historical Monuments and as a tutor at the Department of Urban Renewal and Planning Theory at the University of Kassel. She wrote her final thesis on the topic of real laboratories in the context of sustainable and participatory spatial planning.
After her studies she worked in the field of urban planning and public relations in a planning and architecture office in Berlin. She gained further practical experience in various internships, among others in the inter- and transdisciplinary real laboratory “Quartier Zukunft” of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and in the projects “Zukunftsstadt Finsterwalde” and “Comeback Elbe-Elster”.
Since 2020 she has been working as a research assistant at the nexus Institute, where she is particularly active in the thematic areas of sustainable urban and regional development, mobility and participation.
